The presidential Blue House said it has asked U.S. authorities for an early investigation into former presidential spokesman Yoon Chang-jung's sexual harassment allegations.
The Blue House also said the presidential office and the South Korean embassy will fully cooperate with U.S. police who are conducting the probes.
Meanwhile, an employee from the Korean Cultural Center in Washington is said to have accompanied the alleged victim when she notified police of the incident, following which officers were dispatched to the hotel.
The Cultural Center employee has reportedly offered to resign after the scandal took place.
An unnamed source at the embassy said no requests have been made by the U.S. police, as a full scale investigation is yet to begin.
