South Korea, the United States and Japan will hold talks of their top nuclear envoys next week, in a bid to seek ways to denuclearize communist North Korea.

During the meeting scheduled for May 26 and 27 in Seoul, the three nations' chief delegates to the long-stalled 6-party nuclear talks will discuss measures to make "substantive" progress in denuclearizing the North, Seoul's foreign ministry said in a press release today (Friday).

The ministry added that Hwang Joon-Kook, special representative for Korean Peninsula peace and security affairs, will meet with his U.S. and Japanese counterparts Sung Kim and Junichi Ihara and also discuss the North's recent provocations involving the test-firing of a submarine-launched missile.

The three envoys held a similar meeting in January in Tokyo.
