14.5 billion casino funds embezzlement suspect sent to custody three years after fleeing

One of the main offenders who fled on charges of embezzling 14.5 billion won in casino funds has been arrested and sent three years after fleeing.

The Jeju Provincial Police Agency arrested A for stealing 14.5 billion won in company money while serving as vice president of the Jeju Landing Casino and handed it over to the prosecution.

Mr. A fled to Dubai in December 2020, was caught by Interpol three months ago and repatriated to Korea at the end of last month.

In a police investigation, Mr. A claimed to have stolen money under the direction of the former casino management.

The police seized 13.4 billion won, including 8 billion won stored in the safe of B, another main culprit, and 5 billion won held by four other accomplices at the time.
