[Incheon] Incheon Port's first 'completely automated' container dock operator agreement

Incheon Port Corporation has signed an implementation agreement with the tentatively named Incheon Global Container Terminal Co., Ltd., the operator of the container dock in the first and second stages of Incheon New Port, to create a "fully automated" container dock.

The container dock in the first and second stages of Incheon New Port will be opened in December 2027 with a fully automated container movement system applied for the first time in Incheon Port and the second time in Korea.

The pier, which will be built by Incheon Port Corporation at a cost of 670 billion won, is a 4,000 TEU class of three berths, capable of handling 1.38 million TEUs of annual traffic volume.

In May, the Incheon Port Authority selected a consortium of five shipping and port companies, including Hanjin, Sunkwang, E1, Korea Shipping, and HMM, as the preferred bidder and signed the agreement after long negotiations.
