Corruption Investigations Unit References 'Impeachment and First Lady Kim's Special Prosecutor Act' in the Background of Martial Law Declaration

It has been confirmed that the high-ranking government official's criminal investigation office referred to the National Assembly's impeachment, budget cuts, and the push for a special prosecution law against his spouse, Kim Gun-hee, as the background of President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law.

In the arrest and search warrant for President Yoon, the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit pointed out that President Yoon colluded with former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun to declare emergency martial law in order to paralyze the function of the National Assembly as the opposition party continued to push for the independent counsel law on impeachment, budget reduction, and alleged manipulation of his spouse's stock price.

He also explained that he tried to riot with former Minister Kim and former martial law commander Park An-soo for the purpose of national constitution and arrest and detain officials of the National Election Commission for election offenses.
