General J.Beer Brunson as new ROK-U.S. Combined Forces commander

J.Beer Brunson, the new commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command and commander of the United Nations Command, was inaugurated today (20th).

The ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command held a transfer ceremony yesterday afternoon (20th) for Commander Paul Ruckamara and new Commander Brunson, who will be discharged from the military at Barker Field in Camp Humphreys, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

Acting Defense Minister Kim Sun-ho and others also attended the meeting, which was presided over by Samuel Perfaro, the commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.

In his inaugural address, Commander Brunson stressed that the South Korea-U.S. alliance is a lighthouse of safety and strength in an ever-changing world, and that words alone cannot exert strong deterrence and will ensure readiness to respond to any threats through practical joint-joint exercises.Acting President Kim

also said in a congratulatory speech that the South Korea-U.S. alliance has been strengthened despite changes in the security environment over the past 70 years, and that he will not be swayed by any difficulties.

Commander Brunson, who was commissioned in 1990, served as deputy commander of the 10th Mountain Division, chief of staff of the 18th Airborne Corps and commander of the 1st Corps, and has been deployed several times, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan.
