The U.S. government said it appreciates the resilience of Korean democracy and the rule of law in response to the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk Yeol being passed by the National Assembly.

The White House National Security Council, the NSC, made the comments in the name of a spokesperson in response to YTN's written inquiries about the impeachment of President Yoon.

The NSC also said, "The South Korea-U.S. alliance is strong and the U.S. is committed to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula."

"The American people will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Korean people," he said.
