Israel's Defense "Order to Forces in Syria's Buffer Zone During Winter"

Israel's defense minister has ordered his forces to stay in a buffer zone within Syrian territory beyond the northern border this winter, local media reported.

On the 13th local time, Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered, "Due to the situation in Syria, it has become very important to protect the peak of Mount Hermon."

On the 8th, when Syrian rebels declared victory, Israel crossed the border of the northern occupied Golan Heights and entered Syrian territory.

It is the first time in 50 years that Israeli forces have entered Syria from a buffer zone established by the United Nations since the ceasefire between Israel and Syria in 1974.

Israel has been effectively controlling the Golan Heights since it seized most of it during the Third Middle East War in 1967, but it has not been recognized by the international community.
