Actor Seo Hyun-jin explained the background of his appearance in the Netflix series "Trunk."

Seo Hyun-jin met with reporters at an interview commemorating the release of the Netflix series "Trunk" at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 6th. The interview was originally scheduled on the 4th, but it was canceled once due to the emergency martial law, and then re-arranged two days later.

'Trunk' is a story surrounding a suspicious trunk that suddenly rises to the lake one day, and it is a mystery melodrama about mysterious events and emotional waves that take off the veil with secrets hidden in it. Seo Hyun-jin played the role of "No In-ji," a character who became alone because of his marriage, and worked with Gong Yoo in the opposite role.

Seo Hyun-jin said, "This is my first time to appear in a work released on OTT, so I've waited a lot as one of the viewers. Just as the pause in the end of the work began to pass, this work influenced me a lot. There have been a lot of changes, and I think I've been influenced a lot by the character," he said.

"Noh In-ji," played by Seo Hyun-jin, is a marriage job. For a year of marriage, he comes to Han Jung-won (played by Gong Yoo) with just a trunk. The reason why the elderly chose this job, and the heartbreaking narrative unfolds with the development of the play, and Seo Hyun-jin expressed the scene from dry expressions to a scene that bursts condensed emotions in detail.

There were many comments among viewers about the god whose vertebrae looked prominent as he sobbed in an empty house. Seo Hyun-jin said, "I had an impact, so there was a picture I was carrying with me. It's a sitting back shot, and it was a picture of bones showing. There were clothes with a low back, and I showed it to the director because I thought I could use it," he said.

Seo Hyun-jin is significantly thinner than in previous works, perfectly expressing the inside and outside of Noh In-ji. Regarding this, he said, "I didn't take it out on purpose. "I think I fell out because I was having a hard time taking my dog around," he said, adding, "I'm glad that the elderly is living a life in a corner that suits the character."

On this day, Seo Hyun-jin accompanied his dog Cedar to the interview room. He said, "My dog is a 13-year-old old dog, so I have a lot to take care of. Now I have to feed him little by little because I can't see his eyes well, but I was busy because I had time to eat him on the set. "It was not easy physically because I had a lot to take care of," he said, drawing attention.

Noh In-ji, whose emotions are restrained, looks very static at the beginning of the work, but the color given to the character was ironically "red." In this regard, Seo Hyun-jin highlighted the main scenes by wearing a red or burgundy costume or jewelry. This was a device to metaphorically reveal the inside of the character.

Seo Hyun-jin said, "Red is connected to tango in a way. In a way, he chose marriage as his job because he liked it, and the color in his character's original mind is red. So the kayak was red, and even in his first appearance, he wore a burgundy-colored leather coat that was close to red," Mise-en explained.

Gong Yoo, who worked with him in the work, praised him. Seo Hyun-jin said, "I think I had a lot to learn. I thought you were acting closely in the field, but when I saw the completed version, I saw a big picture drawn by you, so I thought you did it so delicately. He expressed that he will look at the other person with a really lovely and excited look.

Despite the actors' passionate performance, there were divided opinions among viewers who watched the work. The unique setting of a fixed-term marriage and the tone of a rather heavy work drew mixed reactions. Seo Hyun-jin replied, "Some people may think it's unkind, but I liked this work because there are a lot of margins and metaphors."

Finally, he said, "I don't think 'Trunk' simply drew meeting as a fake relationship and going to real love. I think it's a story that restores daily life. The finished version is much brighter than the script. The director wrote a lot of music in a casual way, and it was good to add EDM to change the atmosphere."
