KBS union launches one-day general strike to coincide with President Park Jang-beom's inauguration

The KBS union went on a one-day general strike on the day new president Park Jang-beom took office.

The KBS headquarters of the press union went on strike from midnight today (10th) with the refusal of new president Park Jang-beom, the protection of public broadcasting, and the acquisition of collective agreements.

In a letter to the union members, Park Sang-hyun, head of the KBS headquarters of the press union, encouraged them to participate, saying, "Let's at least show that we are on the side of the people, not the rebellion."

In response, KBS claimed that the strike was illegal because it was intended to oppose President Park's inauguration, not to work conditions such as wages, and said it would seek compensation for damages.
