Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min, who is considered a close aide to President Yoon Suk Yeol, has stepped down from his post.

It's been five days since the emergency martial law occurred.

Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min expressed his resignation in a statement, saying, "I am seriously aware of the responsibility for not assisting the people and the president well."

"There should be no more vacuum and confusion in state administration," he said. "I will return to one ordinary person and help the Republic of Korea take a new leap forward."

It's been five days since the emergency.President Yoon, who issued a statement saying,

, 'I will not be involved in state affairs,' immediately approved Minister Lee's dismissal.

In response, the Democratic Party of Korea said, "President Yoon, who is suspected of a rebellion, is still exercising his right to command the military and personnel affairs of the government," adding, "Lee Sang-min is a conspiracy to commit a rebellion and the main culprit."

Minister Lee has been controversial for his remarks in defense of emergency martial law during his appearance at a parliamentary inquiry on emergency issues after the emergency martial law crisis.

It has not been confirmed whether Lee agreed to declare martial law, but opposition parties believe he was involved in the emergency martial law process.

Accordingly, he reported the impeachment motion against Minister Lee to the National Assembly and was scheduled to vote on the 10th.Minister Lee, who is a junior at Chungam High School of President Yoon

, is classified as a close aide to President Yoon since the inauguration of the government.

The opposition party voted to impeach Minister Lee in February last year, holding him responsible for the Itaewon disaster.

As a result, Minister Lee, who was suspended, returned to the minister's post in five months after the Constitutional Court rejected his request for an impeachment trial.

Since then, he has worked as the longest-serving minister in the Yoon administration for two years and seven months.
