About an hour ago, bereaved families and citizens of the Itaewon disaster visited this place with candle models and posted mourning notes on the wall of the alley.

From citizens who sat for a long time and swallowed their tears, families who stayed silent with their children, and foreigners who stopped visiting and laid flowers.

[Witness: I can't see this alley. Looking at it now, the alley is much narrower than I thought at the time, and when I think about the people who passed away, I hope they are very sad and peaceful..]

Earlier, at 6:34 p.m., when the first report was received on the day of the disaster, we read an oral record book containing the stories of bereaved families and survivors together,

At 7 p.m., a memorial cultural festival was also held at Noksapyeong Station Square.

Earlier at 11 a.m., politicians said they would not repeat such a disaster again at the National Assembly, where the second anniversary of the memorial service was held.

Mourners continued to visit the "House of the Stars," a memorial altar in Jung-gu, Seoul, all day long, and they could not hide their grief as they looked at the pictures of the victims.The board with the phrase

How is the safety management in Itaewon ahead of Halloween?

Yes, police patrolling the area in an endless procession of memorials and taking care of safety.

During the reading session, several police officers stood in front of the alley.

CCTV that can detect crowds is also in operation.

The number of people per unit area is automatically calculated and if a risk is expected, the police, fire, and local governments will be notified of the situation.

Right below, there is also a secure emergency bell where citizens can speak directly to police officers.

At Noksapyeong Station Plaza, where the cultural festival was held, a joint situation room of related agencies is set up to manage crowd density in real time with CCTV control center.

Yongsan-gu is preparing for a congestion situation by dividing three stages based on the number of people getting off at Itaewon Station by the 3rd of next month.

In addition, more than 4,200 safety management personnel will be deployed in the Itaewon area.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security will send field situation managers to 12 areas where many people are expected to visit, including Itaewon and Hongdae, to check the emergency response system by the 1st of next month.
