The vines are heavy with bundles of ripening grapes amid the sweltering summer heat.

They look like Campbell Early grapes but they are from a different variety.

They are a seedless grape.

The seedless grape species are called "Chungrang" and "Cheongporang", respectively. Both varieties have been developed by the Chungcheongbuk-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services based in South Korea's central city of Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province.

The grapes are much bigger and sweeter than the existing grape species. Their sweetness could reach as high as more than 18 degrees Brix.

A green grape species with a good flavor and high fruit yield, Cheongporang is known to be good for producing wine and juice.

"The wines (made from Cheongporang) have good taste and color. They are quite transparent as well."

The research institute has so far registered four new grape species developed by its researchers with the Korea Seed & Variety Service, that are replacing foreign varieties.
