Top Korean car maker Hyundai Motor has succeeded in a test run of its autonomous vehicles on a highway from Seoul to PyeongChang.

Without a single touch of human, a self-driving vehicle is operating smoothly while keeping a good distance from other vehicles.

The car passed a vehicle ahead moving slowly, and gets through the tollgate without any trouble.

Also, it changes lanes easily at interchanges or junctions.

Hyundai's next generation fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) and luxury sedan Genesis G80 equipped with the self-driving technology successfully traveled the 190 kilometer Seoul-PyeongChang expressway.

For the test run of the driverless vehicles, special technologies required for the level-four automation were used, according to Hyundai Motor.

"It (The test driving) is considered as a significant cornerstone for the future by verifying various types of unexpected situations on the expressway.”

Hyundai Motor plans to open its self-driving vehicle models to the public for test-runs in Pyeongchang, the host city of the PyeongChang Winter Games, during the Olympiad.

Hyundai Motor is seeking to launch full-fledged self-driving models of its own in a commercial capacity by 2030.
