South Korea and Iran have signed a total of 66 memorandum of understandings on bilateral cooperation in the economic and the private business sectors.

The signing of the MOUs held on Monday, many of them covering the infrastructure and the energy sectors, were observed by President Park Geun-Hye and her Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

Earlier on Monday, Park and Rouhani held their first summit talks and agreed on cooperating with international efforts to block North Korea's nuclear arms development program.

Rouhani told reporters after the summit that he wants a nuclear arms-free Korean Peninsula.

Park is on her three-day state visit to the Middle East nation to become the first South Korean head of state to step on Iranian soil.
