North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has praised this week's landmark tension-breaking agreement between the two Koreas as an epochal breakthrough for turning a crisis to a road towards reconciliation.

The North's official broadcasting system reported today (Friday) that Kim made the remarks during a meeting of the central military committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The young North Korean leader also said the two Koreas should value the inter-Korean agreement, which has driven out "a cloud of war" to defend peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and lead it towards bearing abundant fruit.

On Thursday, Kim Yang-Gon, secretary of the central committee of the Workers' Party told the North's official Korean Central News Agency that the latest inter-Korean contact has "helped to defuse the danger of the touch-and-go situation."

Kim Yang-Gon, one of the two North Korean negotiators in the high-level border talks which resulted in the icebreaking agreement with the South, also said Pyongyang will "actively make efforts" to improve ties with Seoul.

The comments from the refractory North Korean leaders are widely seen here as a good sign in proceeding with proposed reconciliatory projects between the two arch rivals.
