K-pop girl band Red Velvet presented a series of historical performances to North Koreans.

The four-member girl group, as part of a South Korean troupe, performed its hit songs "Red Flavor" and "Bad Boy" at the concert to deliver a message of peace and hope for unification, that was held in Pyongyang on April 1st and 3rd.

"They (North Koreans) responded with a lot of cheers and applause. I had mixed feelings when they clapped so hard even after we came off the stage."

Singer and actress Seohyun from Girls' Generation, who performed with the North Korean art troupe in February during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, emceed the concert.

"I wish that we all could have time to be touched deep down in our hearts, feeling that we are one nation."

The 160-member art troupe from the South took part in the concert held under the title of "Spring Comes" at the 1,500-seat East Pyongyang Grand Theater. Among the art troupe members were renowned K-pop musicians Cho Yong-Pil, Lee Sun-Hee, Kang San-Eh, Yoon Do-Hyun, and Baek Ji-Young.

After the South Korean top stars' performances, the North Korean audience enthusiastically responded with a roar of applause.

"When we sang songs with other senior singers at the end (of the concert), the North Korean audience sang along. Looking at the sight, I felt that we are one nation, and it promptly made me burst into tears."

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un and his wife Ri Sol-Ju also made a surprise attendance at the first concert.
